Configuring proxy in Cygwin or Bash/Ubuntu

Hi fellas!!!

This week I pass through a pain in the ass ‘bug’ to access internet through a proxy using my cygwin.

So, how to configure your cygwin to use your company proxy:

export http_proxy=http://DOMAIN\\USERNAME:PASSWORD@proxy.mycompany.com:8080

Obs. domain, username and passwd are option, check with your company

Important thing is to check witch type of auth your proxy support.
We have some types of auth in proxys:

  • Basic (plain text)
  • Digest
  • Integrate/NTLM
  • Radious

And for example if your company did not support basic, you are screwed =P
